Book Club Donors

NOTE TO BOOK GROUPS:

If your club decides to donate a box of books to the real camel library, please let me know by email. I’d love to both add you to the donor list and offer a speaker-phone conversation with your club to tell you about traveling with the real camel bookmobile. In some cases, I may be able to come speak with you in person.

  1. What a great program! We are interested in writing something about this. Could you please contact me so I can set up an interview?

  2. The Champagne Book Club is preparing a package of 14-15 books that we purchased from Amazon. We are from Redding, California, 2-1/2 hours North of Sacramento on Highway 5. The book club meets on the 3rd Wednesday of each month. We were excited by the idea of the Camel Book Mobile since we are all AVID readers. We are meeting this Wednesday to insert bookplate information with a picture of us listing our first names. The package should be off to Kenya by Friday – we are all very excited. The book club decided to do this for the Christmas season rather than trading gifts with each other.

  3. We are going to be discussing the book, Camel Bookmobile, at our Thursday meeting, April 16, 2009 from 10:00 am to 11:30 am. If someone could call us at that time we would be happy to hear from you. Let me know if this is possible, who would be calling us, how much time you need and I’ll provide a phone number. We meet at the Roxbury Public Library in Succasunna, NJ. I am not sure if we will be interested in donating books. We will discuss this idea on Thursday.

  4. After reading your wonderful book, our book club Starry Eyed Readers on Hilton Head Island, SC donated funds for a camel last summer in honor of two of our members who were celebrating “significant” birthdays. We have received word from Mr. Farah that the camel has been purchased and is now being used on a book mobile route.

  5. Our reading group is called Eat Read and Be Merry. We will be discussing The Camel Bookmobile at our meeting December 3 at 7:30 in the evening. I chose the book and hope that all the members find it as interesting and enjoyable as I did. It would be really great if you could indeed call during our meeting time ( 7:30 to 9:30). THank you for all you do to promote literacy and for reawakening a love of books in all of us.
